1972 Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 Wideboy
Wideboy lovin
This dial type is known as the “wide boy” because of the usual hour markers and handset. You can see they are block-like, and well, quite wide. These were only produced for a short period of time during the early 70’s and I believe the idea behind the design was to make the dial more legible with these thick hour markers and hands.
Case: Excellent condition case with little to no signs of wear. Lugs are thick and balanced. 18K white gold fluted bezel is minty.
Dial: Excellent condition non-lume T SWISS T silver sunburst pie-pan dial with silver wideboy hour markers and handset. Open 6/9 date disc.
Bracelet: Tight jubilee bracelet (something rarely seen on a 48 year old watch). 20 links total, will fit up to around a 7 - 7.2 inch wrist. Clasp has a 1972 mark.
Accessories: None. Watch only.
Notes: 2020 service from cltimeworks, watch is running like a champ.
