1972 Rolex Day-Date Ref. 1803 Wideboy
Ultimate Wideboy
This dial type is known as the “wide boy” because of the usual hour markers and handset. You can see they are block-like, and well, quite wide. These were only produced for a short period of time during the early 70’s and I believe the idea behind the design was to make the dial more legible with these thick hour markers and hands.
Case: Excellent condition 18K gold case with minimal signs of wear and balanced lugs. Unpolished fluted bezel.
Dial: Excellent condition T SWISS T champagne sunburst pie-pan dial with gold wideboy hour markers and handset. All lume plots are present and even in color. Open 6/9 date disc with English day disc.
Accessories: Taupe strap included with gold buckle.
Notes: This is an extremely pristine example of a wideboy day date, you wont find many in comparable condition!!
